TAO GUAN
In ancient times there were centers of knowledge called "Tao Guan" which means spiritual retreat. The Tao Guan usually consisted of a few buildings, a garden, classrooms, a healing center and herb room. This was a living fountain of life energy where one could come to personally experience the movement arts, meditation, natural medicine and learn spiritual practices. It was also a place to share knowledge and wisdom from life experience with a community of like minded individuals. In our contemporary Tao Guan, we educate the general public about natural approaches to health and well being with an emphasis on spiritual independence through self cultivation.
WORKSHOPS, LECTURES, ETC.
MEDITATION
Meditation is an integral part of all activity at the center and from time to time we will schedule a workshop to teach a specific meditative practice. Its benefits range from deep relaxation to profound healing on all levels. Daily practice releases stress, balances the emotions and refreshes your mind. Meditation can help you find the immortal moments in daily life.
SPIRITUAL PRACTICES AND INVOCATIONS
Spiritual practices and invocations are taught to help eliminate the constant chatter and confusion in one's mind. The purpose of these practices is to expand awareness, open the heart and to sharply focus the mind's intent. With sincerity and daily practice, true healing on many levels can occur.
STUDY GROUPS
Study groups are offered in different formats. A single book could be the subject of study or a single subject can be chosen using several books. Classes may meet weekly, monthly or on-line. Readings from the Taoist classics and other spiritual works are utilized along with introspective discussions and the wisdom that comes from life experience.
REIKI
Healing circles, Classes and treatmentsA Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Dr. Mikao Usui discovered it in the early 1900's. Reiki is administered by "laying on of hands". This is a very simple yet powerful technique. Reiki has its own intelligence and knows exactly where to go and what to do. It can never harm. Reiki can be defined as the Universal Consciousness guided life energy. My name is Laura Bartolacci, and I have been a Reiki Master and practitioner for over five years. I have used this powerful yet gentle technique while undergoing cancer and it has proven to be very beneficial.
