Who Are The Taoists and What Is The Tao:

The teachings of the Tao originated in prehistoric times, within the area of China deep in the pristine forest and mountains, where the natural flow of energy was whole, balanced and undisturbed. In this environment nature and man evolved as an integral macrocosm. The subtle law contained in Nature was discovered to be the truth of our own being. Separating ourselves from Nature creates misfortune, while integration creates a positive stable life. Our educational approaches are direct as compared to the general religious and educational systems of our society. Experientially engaging ourselves with life energy through self cultivation; we rediscover the natural reality of mind, body and spirit. This knowledge is a living energetic system.

Many teachers through their kindness, dedication and wisdom have helped us along the way. We give special thanks to our spiritual friend and mentor Master Ni, Hua Ching and the Ni family. The Ni family tradition stretches back to antiquity and is expressive of the timeless message of one great universal spiritual unity.

Special thanks also to Taoist Lineage Master Bruce Frantzis for passing down so freely the many chi gung practices in his “Energy Arts” system that come from the water school method of Taoism. We have personally been studying these practices over the last six years and this is the system primarily taught at the center.

Our History

We had an undefined dream. We imagined a healing center that was a refuge from worldly confusion. In 1988, we had the opportunity to hear Taoist Master Ni, Hua Ching speak at a Unitarian church. We were inspired to expand our understanding through workshops, new movement practices and reading books by Master Ni and other spiritual classics. "The Way" started to unfold and our journey began to take form.

In 1989 Frank taught a single Tai Chi class at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove and we held study groups and meetings in our tiny home which we fondly referred to as "The Bonsai Center. In the early 90's we started giving free community lectures, taking part in health expos, and teaching Qigong classes at several martial art studios. Frank also received his Acupuncture license and we began building our private practices in Chinese Medicine and nutrition. Initially we took up residence in Hollywood, Fl. next to the Hollywood Birth Center. We were fortunate to have good friends and the space to practice, teach and grow.

Today, in our present location, The Gardens business park in Tamarac, we have had an abundance of good fortune. We've made many friends over the years and we presently have a small community of students, friends and patients. In the immediate future, our plans include extended workshops and retreats that will create opportunities for individuals to experience self healing and self fulfillment. Our desire is to impart knowledge and educate individuals in life skills that will facilitate good health, true joy and a strong spirit.

Beyond this, the journey will lead to the N. Carolina mountains. In this extraordinarily beautiful area where stars are visible, fireflies light up the night, and trees live long enough to acquire wisdom; our hearts become full. The details are still somewhat nebulous because we're not sure who will join us, but regardless, it will unfold as it should. Seeds that have been planted and nurtured over the years will germinate and grow as “the way” unveils itself and the journey continues to flow into the future.
